Maryanne MacLeod

Media Relations, Healthcare Communications, Community Engagement & Journalism

From an automotive assembly line upbringing to the deadlines of a daily newsroom and the sensitivities of healthcare environments, Maryanne has built trusted relationships with C-suite executives and media partners throughout Detroit and Michigan. With a clear understanding of what reporters need — and an organization’s best interests — she has worked with The Wall Street Journal, NBC Nightly News, The Associated Press and other national and international outlets as a communications leader with Michigan’s largest health system. Her storytelling approach is human-centered, data-informed and strengthened by newsroom-tested editorial judgment. She uses AI tools when they add efficiency or insight. Through the Macomb Food Collaborative, she helped local food-based businesses expand visibility and engage with the community. Maryanne received an Athena Award nomination from the Macomb Chamber for her community engagement work with the Macomb Media Lab, and her early digital storytelling experiment “Romeo & Juliet on Facebook” drew attention from the Toronto Star.
