Case Study: Corporate Sustainability

Situation

A global automotive supplier reached out to Herta Communications + Marketing when the vendor working on their annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) report was unable to deliver.

A review by an important third-party agency—which provides environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data to investors—was only weeks away.

The company was looking for guidance on how to best tell their ESG story, as well as content development and a fresh look for the annual report.

Approach

The project began with an assessment of the organization’s goals for the CSR report and a review of the assets available, content gaps and desired look and feel for the report.

A comprehensive timeline was created that provided key internal stakeholders the opportunity to review and approve materials as they were being developed.

To stay on track, Herta’s content team worked on the narrative and design elements simultaneously. Regular communication touchpoints were scheduled throughout the project.

Outcome

Despite the accelerated timeline, the client’s CSR report was ready a few days before the deadline. The automotive supplier was pleased that the third-party agency upgraded their ESG rating, thanks in part to the ease of finding the necessary information to make their assessment in the CSR report.

The document was also shared internally to educate employees about the company’s goals and actions in the ESG space.

Because of the report’s success, Herta Communications was asked to create the report for the company the following year…with similar results.
